Staying inside

Hey girls,
The biggest blizzard of my life has been raging outside, and I have never felt cozier. Mainly because I have been watching many movies (such as Alex and Emma, love that movie, and a rewatch of the new take of the classic tale, Cinderella), but also because I have a warm wardrobe filled with knits and cozy things to keep me warm, such as the sweater I'm wearing. Even though I had to shovel for hours yesterday and even today, I have the peace and tranquility of knowing I'm going to be slipping on a cozy sweater such as this one and staying warm. And meanwhile, I'm going to try to stay inside at all costs.

Knit: Forever 21
Pants: Target

A minimal yet comfy look such as this does require a promise to stay inside and stay warm! This blizzard, which I'm sure you've heard of, is dumping piles of snow on us poor states. Hopefully soon, it will clear up, and I can feel just as comfy outside as I do inside.

Finally part 2

Hey girls,
Finally, I'm uploading part 2 of my Christmas gifts to this blog. It's been such a long time, I almost forgot! Actually, I'm kidding, I didn't forget, I've been waiting to show you this for some weeks now. I am so excited that I'm showing you now!
This is actually parts 2 and three rolled into one because me parents and sister gave me gifts when we came back from Canada, and part three were my grandparents and great grandparent, aunt, and cousins' gifts. I think this was my best Christmas yet. I got so many things that I wanted. It would be hard to describe all the gifts that I got in one word, because so many words come to mind (amazing, perfect, and spectacular being a few), but if I had to, the word divine comes to my mind. Divine because it all sums up the fashionable clothes and bags, the gorgeous nail polish, the incredibly useful gift cards, and everything in between. There wasn't a moment of dissatisfaction in all the gifts I received.
Ok, I'll stop endlessly droning and get to the gifts part, the part you're looking forward to, more than me going on about how I loved my gifts. But it's true, though. My gifts were nothing short of divine.
(Just to warn you, I went a bit picture crazy and took tons of photos, so this post is going to be very long. I'm sorry for this! I just love my gifts.)
Here they are! I'm so so excited to share:

Funky Fingers "Kingston" polish, Funky Fingers "220 Volts" polish, Smooth N' Shine Spray on Hair Polisher with Silk Proteins

Fresh Paint "Emma" polish (wearing), Fresh Paint "Finished" top coat polish

Twisted infinity silver bracelet
Brown and turquoise beading on velvet band bracelet

Bath and Body Works "Mad About You" body lotion

New Look faux leather jacket with fleece sleeves and hood

New Look single breasted fleece coat with belt

Faux suede knee-high slouchy flat boots

Cranberry chunky knit crew neck sweater with slits in sides

Yoga pants with decorative waistband

Aztec print bucket bag with fringe drawstrings, Fresh Paint polishes

TJ Maxx, Forever 21, H&M, Forever 21, Jo Ann Fabrics, Target, H&M, Subway, TJ Maxx, 4 iTunes gift cards (Red Robin gift card not shown)

Black and white polka dotted smartphone gloves, Extra Smooth Mint gum

Now you probably get why I'm so excited about all the gifts I received. I am forever thankful for what I got. You will see most of these items in future blog posts, that's for sure! Maybe you might see more than one item! However I show these items, I will show them in style and pure glee. I know that I will break in these items in high style.
 Merry belated Christmas (part 2)!

Sweater and collared

Hey girls,
Today's another outfit post. I was inspired by the button-down-under-sweater style that can be paired with denim (boyfriend jeans!), A-line skirts, and much, much more. I wanted to try this trend for myself. Instead of wearing jeans, that's too ordinary, I tried out some straight legged pants and patent leather heels. This look was supposed to represent the smooth and classy (and slightly tomboyish) area of the style spectrum. I would suggest wearing this outfit to work, because it works! (That won't happen again, I promise.) What I love is how the sweater shows both the collar, and the open bottom of the button down. I love how I can style button downs so many different ways. I have a ton of button downs, and I am always looking for ways to style this traditional piece. The sweater is fairly thin, but it is still opaque enough so the button down can;t be seen through the sweater. I love how understated this sweater is! It doesn't take much to either dress up or dress down this sweater. This can come in handy when creating an outfit.
I paired these gorgeous heels with this outfit because it really pulls out the classy and sharp, defined feel of the outfit. These heels also highlight and complement the pants, and when put together, they emphasize the feel of all these clothes together. The heels also really do a great job of pulling the outfit together, and not making it seem like these clothes were just thrown together.

Pants: H&M
Button down: Target
Sweater: H&M
Heels: Payless

I really want to try and experiment with the sweater and button down collared shirt more often. I like the clean and finished look it has. The bottom of the shirt peeking out makes the look more approachable and fun.
I really think the heels were a good idea in this outfit. It looks more professional in this case. Heels can either contribute a fun and playful or a professional and polished impression. It all depends on how you style it. It always matters how you style it.

Classic blue coat

Hey girls,
First post of 2016! I can't be more excited if I tried. This means that 2016 will be another year for my blog to grow and be bigger and better than it was last year and all of the years before. I am excited to grow and thrive with the help and support from my followers, commenters, and readers.
Before I talk about this post, I want to say that yes, there will be a Christmas post part 2. Thank goodness.Yesterday, I opened my Christmas presents that were waiting under the Christmas tree when I got home from visiting family in Canada. Needless to say, I definitely wasn't disappointed! I really adored the gifts that I got, and I got some very stylish clothes that I will be showing in another post, probably next week. The only reason stopping me from going and blogging my brains out about what I got for Christmas part 2 is that I haven't yet received all of my gifts. Some of my family members haven't given me their gifts for me. But don't worry, hopefully by next week (and next blog post), I will have all of my gifts, and I will be able to blog all about them.
Back to Canada for a second. I had such a fun time, and I was feeling down when we got home because all I wanted to do was go back. The thought that there were unopened presents reduced my sadness by a reasonable amount. Not all the way, but I know that all good things must come to an end, plus I always leave Canada knowing that I'll be back. I love Canada. And my family lives there, after all. Coming back is inevitable. Inevitable in a good way.
Now I'll stop reminiscing about Christmas. It's a new year! OK, now talking about this blog post, I believe that in the cold winter months, you should have at least one go-to coat to keep you warm and shield you from the trials and tribulations of the harsh season. Whether it's navy blue (like mine), black, white, gray, brown, or another color. The coat can either be a staple color, like black, white, or navy blue, or it can be the accent piece of the outfit, which usually means it's patterned or an unusual color that works. My coat in this outfit is a staple, which means that the color and style has been fashionably chosen without detracting attention from the outfit. This coat was chosen both for the style and the warmth. This coat is so warm! This kind of style gives you room to accessorize and plan outfits that contain bold colors, cuts, and patterns. In this outfit, I opted to include bold colors and accent jewelry. This outfit is sans bag, which I'm starting to reconsider. I would actually love to include an oversized, slouchy purse with this outfit, like a cute tote or hobo bag.
What I did include in the outfit was a pair of tights, which I don't wear usually but decided to try, and a miniskirt that I made with visible front pockets. I also included my favorite ankle boots that I am so in love with from Rainbow! But that's not all the outfit includes.
I am debuting two of my Christmas gifts that I received from Christmas part 1, an adorable teal sweater that I immediately fell in love with when I first laid eyes on it, and a beautiful bangle set. I really admire the thin and pretty gold bangles compared to the chunky accent bangle. Also, the sweater is gorgeous, and such a pretty teal. I love it so much, and I was very much in need of new knits to add to my closet.
I was so anxious to wear these two gifts, so my outfit is mostly centered around these two components of the outfit.

Coat: Forever 21
Skirt: handmade
Shoes: Rainbow
Tights: Target
Bracelets: H&M
Sweater: JCPenney

The coat really adds a needed classic air to the outfit, plus it's winter! Warmth is key! But in my opinion, being warm and stylish earns you extra points. Being warm and being fashionable really instills that sense of accomplishment in me because I've made my outfit work for winter and for fashion.
